SoundTaxi does not communicate with its customers
Thanks, Matt.
I've still not heard back from anybody at SoundTaxi -- neither, I suspect, has RegNow, through whom I purchased the software.
It's interesting to learn that your friend has had a similar experience: no licence code and no communication from them. I can only guess that they are either out of business, or completely incompetent. I suppose that's what I get for dealing with a mob based in the former USSR.

My SoundTaxi Experience
I purchased SoundTaxi in May. I first tested out the trial on my XP laptop and it converted the song to 30 seconds and sounded great. Then I purchased the full version and I immediately got the code via email and it worked fine.
In June I emailed support at support@soundtaxi.info and about 4 days later got a response from a person named Dmetri. I got a reply from him and responded back a few times with him.
I have converted 1000's of songs with the software and think its great!
Then a week or so ago I had a friend try to purchase the software and he received no code. Then the website disappeared for 3 days. It showed back up a few days later with 2 versions of SoundTaxi. A new version that converts 40x faster for $24.90.
He as well as I have emailed the company several times to get a response for the code and we have heard nothing back.
I find it strange that they would come out with a new version and not respond to emails.
I called RegNow the merchant processor of SoundTaxi on their 800 number listed on their site. I spoke with a rep named Nicole and she told me that they would try to contact the company. If they didn't hear back within 2 days they would refund you your money. All you needed to provide was your order number.
So you might try the 800 number if you have tried purchasing with no luck.
I want to put SoundTaxi on my home laptop but when I downloaded the trial version it will not convert the songs. It just sits there and times out after 60 seconds. It might be a firewall issue but not sure. I will try in safe mode and see.
Sorry to ramble but that has been my experience.

Purchased full version but got NO license code!
On the basis of rave reviews, I purchased SoundTaxi through the USA-based RegNow.
I then got an email from "Ramka Ltd" saying that my license code is <blank>. Great! I asked RegNow for the license code and they replied with an email to SoundTaxi Support Team <support@soundtaxi.info>, cc me, asking them to supply my activation code and copy them (RegNow) in so that they know I've been replied to. So far, absolutely nothing.
This "Ramka Ltd" appears to be a Ukraine-based operation that also appears to use the name "Shareup LLC".
I'm getting the feeling that this soundtaxi.info mob, or whatever their damn name is, has gone out of business and that I've been suckered.
Pretty soon, I'll be raising a non-delivery complaint with Paypal and demanding a refund from RegNow.

SoundTaxi must be experiencing problems
I purchased version 1 of this program and all worked great. I've noticed that ever since their site went down however, the activation proves useless as well. It all worked at one point but something major must've happened.

Soundtaxi uses CPU even when not running
I downloaded the trial. The conversions sounded great. But something was using up 50% of my CPU. This was the case with all applications closed. Task Manager showed System to be causing all the usage. I uninstalled SoundTaxi, problem solved. Reinstalled, problem came back. Uninstalled, problem gone. Unfortunately, SoundTaxi gone for good, too.

Try another
if using for itunes files try using QTFairUse6 ver 2.5 (search on Google), it works fine for converting protected DRM...if using for any other files maybe try Tunebite...

SoundTaxi-No problem-Great Sounding Mp3s
I purchased to copy to DVDs to play on Jensen DVD player. MP3 files have to be 128bps for my Jensen. On my PC, SoundTaxi converts wma to mp3 at a rate of 45 seconds to one minute per file. Given the time, it is great to select a directory of from one to hundreds of files and let just let it work in the background. It uses 10-20% of my AMD 2.8ghz dual core's CPU cycles. IMPORTANT, it also retains the song file names and information for you.
Hard to beat for under $15.00... it could be a little faster.

Reinstall Sound Taxi
I've used Sound Taxi to converter thousands of files without problems. Sadly I was forced to reinstall Sound Taxi and now I am stuck with the trial version, even after entering the registration and activation code. The problem is the activation code comes back as wrong. Tech support is useless with this matter. They won't even respond. Does anyone know of another program that will do what Sound Taxi does?

Sound Taxi
Works if the program works. You use it one time, close it, and the next time it says "system corrupted" and to reinstall. You have to do this everytime you use it, reload license code, etc., etc. Not worth it, and of course there's absolutely no customer service. Don't waste your money.

Sound Taxi Poor Quality
The sound quality on coverted files is pretty bad. The trial version worked fine and I made the purchase for the full program. While the batch conversion was easy the output files are terrible. Approximately 95% of the files I converted have skips in them (they just cut out for about 1 second) at points in the song. My requests for support have gone unanswered. Do not waste your money.

Works as promised
I have ver 2.5.3 running on new install of XP SP2 with all patches; 2GHz A64, 1GB RAM.
Cannot complain much, as it works as promised. Depending on the 'Troubleshoot' (really performance optimization) option can be either really fast, or slow as hell (actually processing music files in real time 1:1)
Output files are clean and undistinguishable from originals (when doing conversion to wav, as I prefer to do my own encoding to MP3)

Ok for me
I have the program running on a core 2 duo system I built (Vista). No problems at all. Folks who are having difficulty may be having conflicts with other software. Its also possible that it is just a very cpu intensive program.
