WEBCAM-CONTROL-CENTER REVIEWS

Lousy program - version 7.1 needs a lot of work
Pro: can do FTP and email pics, if everything is set up correctly and you only send to one email account Cons: 1) sensitive information can be exposed if the computer on which the program is stored is accessed by unauthorized people and they examine the .dat file with a hex editor: the ftp and email login and password are in plain text. 2) program crashes frequently - cause unknown. Could be the driver, could be the program - can't tell. No crash log available to troubleshoot. 3) if you use two email address to send pics, the program will truncate the picture file name ie: jpg becomes jp, gif becoms gif, bmp becomes bm. A problem with chop/truncate, whatever? 4) When the program crashes, all adjustments that you have made to parameters get lost - you have to re-enter them . The only way around this is to change a parameter, then quit the program and restart it. You have to do this over and over and over and over again. It is a pain in the rump to change parameters. GUI design sucks. 5) if you want to upload pics for email use, you have to change file names all over the place - that particular parameter is simply not handled in one location, and it takes some experimentation figure out where to change the parameters. 6) I've posted these observations on the online forum, and there is no response from the developer. (October 30 2009) 7) The HCI aspects of this program are sadly lacking.
