Am I right in thinking that there is a possibility of a security risk if Teamviewer is left activated on a remoter computer despite appearing to be disconnected from the remote access?

Works well so far.
I have been using this product for a week. I have been on several different highspeed networks helping friends with their computers. Works great. I hope it stays free. Aloha.

Just a great product
I have been using TeamViewer for about 3 months now and I am very satisfied with it. There is no solution on the marked that is so easy to use. You just run the .exe and that's it. No need to take care of any blocked ports or firewalls.
