I successfully cloned an exisitng Samsung SATA hard drive to a new WD SATA hard drive using the Drive Upgrade feature of DriveWizard 3.15. This was done on a Dell GX520 that came with a Restore CD, not a Windows XP Professional boot CD. The exsiting HD had a small ~47 MB partition in addition to the main ~80GB partition. I initialized and formatted the new WD drive with built-in Windows XP Prof. SP2 drive management software (Control Panel/Administrative Tools/Computer Managment, see WD-FAQ 1003) after setting BIOS to see second SATA drive. From there I used DriveWizard - Drive Upgrade to clone the new WD Drive, which was very slightly larger than the original Samsung. I let software assign the new WD as Drive "E" and let the program run. The operation completed quickly. I removed the original Drive and installed the new WD cloned drive in the SATA(0) position, turned off the second drive recoginition in the BIOS and booted with the new WD drive. The PC booted normally and came up as the "C" drive, but did have one "system recognized new hardware" message, found and installed the software for it and all was well (I could not tell what it had been). The DriveWizard 3.15 software performed as advertised for this operation; I did not use any of the other features of the software. The .pdf manual for DriveWizard is reasonably detailed, but not overly so. Some of the sentence construction in the manual is a bit off (as if written by a non-native english speaking person) and hard to understand, so read it carefully. The DriveWizard software made this job easy. I previoulsly tried to upgrade a Biostar PC with a straight Win XPP install to a larger IDE hard disk using the free Seagate installer software and had to re-install Windows along with all the security upgrades on the larger disk to get it to work. When booting with the larger drive, Windows XP just restarted endlessly unless put into Safe Mode (auto-restart can be turned off in this mode so you can see the blue screen on reboot). Reinstalling XP fixed this, but the re-install took many hours to complete. I did not lose any of my work files with the reinstallation of XP. I am happy with my purchase of DriveWizard 3.15 and wish I had used it for the Biostar HD upgrade.
